Almost there…

It was no coincidence that I scheduled my 21 day challenge to end the day before we left on vacation.  It seemed like a good idea at the time, wind down the challenge and then reward myself with the vacation.  Unfortunately, it hasn’t really played out like that.  There’s so much to do that I am having a hard time keeping track of both.

Today was a bit of a trial.  My vehicle needs an oil change before the trip.  I say vehicle because I was just informed that my Honda Odyssey is not a van or minivan but a wagon.  It sounds weird to say ‘my wagon needs an oil change’, so I settled on vehicle but that still seems strange.  Somehow too technical, too bereft of description.  So, anyway my Honda Odyssey (too much?).  My Odyssey needs an oil change, and I had mentioned to Sully’s mom that maybe we could do lunch.  I’d drop off the va…wago…Odyssey and she could pick me/us up and go to lunch.  There are plenty of places to eat just across the way from the Honda dealership.

That was all worked out and then Gramma (Sully’s mom) had the oil light go on in her wagon (another Odyssey) and so she decided to go early since it should be quick.  She has a much newer Odyssey and she never waits more than 30 minutes.  So, then it was we would meet at Honda, her ‘wagon’ would be done and we’d go to lunch while mine was in for service.   Sully would be working from home so he would be able to go too.

This morning I am at swim with Boo and I get a text saying ‘I’m at Honda and there is an hour and a half wait.  I will text you when the van is ready’  (Clearly, she hasn’t gotten the wagon vs. van memo.)  So, Boo and I head home to change and to get Sully.  So, we’re sitting there waiting for the text from Gramma and all I can think of is all of the stuff I need to do to get ready for the trip.  It’s Wednesday and we leave Friday morning, we haven’t packed, I don’t even have the luggage out yet.  There’s no time to start anything, Gramma could text at any moment.  After about 30 minutes, just about the time that Sully was about to lose his patience, we get the text and head out.

Lunch was fun, but Honda is still backed up so Gramma drives us home after and we’ll have to go back to Honda later to pick up the Odyssey.  I decide to get to work on Boo’s bathroom, while Boo works on her bedroom.  I get all of the cleaning stuff and get halfway down the hall when I realize that I had started laundry earlier and I still needed to get stuff in the dryer.  I stop to do that and on to the bathroom.  I barely started cleaning the bathroom when Sully hollers at me from where he is working in the master bedroom.  I go back down the hall and across the bedroom and he asks me about what time the guy at Honda said the car would be done.  I look at the clock do some quick calculations and say, ‘really, anytime now.’  The phone started ringing before I finished talking.  So, the guy at Honda says that the Odyssey is ready and that my rear tires need to be replaced.  Something about dry rot and damage from a nail…oy.  I already knew the bathroom would have to wait when the phone rang but now it’s really going to have to wait.

Back to Honda and then on to Walmart for new tires.  Normally, Walmart would not be my first choice but about a year ago I needed a tire on Memorial Day weekend and Walmart was the only place that was open.  I was very thankful because I had to help Sully’s parents with a dr’s appointment the next day.  In October, I replaced another tire at Walmart so it seemed smart to just stay with those tires.  Also, I had some last minute shopping to do and I figured I could do it while waiting.

Wednesday must be a busy day because Walmart was also backed up, we were there for 20 minutes before the service guy was able to get to us.  He got us checked in and then told us the wait would be an hour and a half.  Of course, it is.  So, Boo and I start shopping and text Sully that we would be there for a while.  Sully decides to come pick us up since we live about a mile away.  I got most of the shopping done although I really needed to look for some new shorts.  We went back home and I finally got Boo’s bathroom cleaned up, the dog’s fed and then back out to pick up the Odyssey again.  These back and forth trips are making me crazy, the summer heat isn’t helping either, 106 degrees, blah!

I continued to work on laundry but not much else, the day was just too exhausting.  Hopefully, I will have a more productive day tomorrow.  Sully has an early meeting at the office so hopefully I can get up early and get a jump on things in the morning.  I will park the Civic in the garage tomorrow when he gets back.  Yay!

Getting it done…

Sully had to go into the office today so I was very busy.  I worked on the laundry, changed the sheets, cleared all of the craft stuff out of the kitchen, went out to the pool,  inflated the ring and started the filter.  I even organized the cabinet under the sink on my side of the bathroom while we were watching TV.  Clearly, Sully and Boo were watching and I was just listening from where I was sitting on the bathroom floor.  We’ve been re-watching episodes of  The Office so watching wasn’t really necessary.

I am amazed at how much I got done in the garage today.  Last night, I hit a crossroads on my cleaning in the garage.  I was able to make a clear list of things to tackle today and the garage is nearly clean.  Well, nearly clean enough to park Sully’s car in the garage before we leave for vacation on Friday.

Good and busy…

Today was a good day, busy but good.  I got a few things done around the house and then we did some shopping.  During the afternoon I got out my Cricut and made some cute cards for my great nephew’s birthday party in the evening.  He loves Disney Cars so I used the Disney Cars Cricut cartridge and the Disney Mickey Font cartridge.

Blame me…

It really is my fault.

This week was all about getting through the WTF moments that kept cropping up.  I told myself don’t start anything new, work on finishing stuff I already started.  In that regard, I had a fabulous week, a few things got done including the photos and frames.  I had the same basic plan going into the weekend.   Work on finishing stuff around the house and don’t start anything new.

The only problem with that plan is that I appear to lack the ability to stay focused.

Friday in the midst of the car breaking down drama and talking to Boo about going swimming with Aunt Lily another day we discussed swimming pools.  I sarcastically asked Sully how much a pool would cost.   He took me seriously for a moment and then we were interrupted by the car stuff again.  Later that night I thought about it again and wondered why we couldn’t get a small above ground pool.   I grew up with them and spent all day everyday during the summer either in the pool or around it.  My parents took great care of the pool, my dad even built a deck on one side so people could sit and relax on the side or just stick their feet in.  He made gates to cover the underneath part so we could use it for storage.  It was pretty cool.

When we got home Friday night, I suggested it to Sully.  We talked briefly before Boo wandered in babbling about something.  I wake up this morning and all I can think of it getting a pool.  A little online research and I find that the smaller pools are around $100.  I finally corner Sully and he’s totally for it.  OMG, I am so excited, like I am about to cry excited, so completely ridiculous.  We  picked up the pool Saturday afternoon, ran some other errands and then came home to eat dinner.

After dinner, I was thinking about what needed to be done to get the pool installed and looked at the house.  Oy!  I did it again!  I have all of this stuff to do in the house and I started another damn project.  My irritation pretty much snuffed out my excitement over the pool.  Blerg…

This next week I have to, have to, HAVE TO get some of this stuff done and taken care of, or I am going to just go nuts.  Seriously, have to get it done.

June+1My June +1 for today will be a recap of how things went this last week.  Oddly enough, I did pretty well last week.  Physically, I was full on with my arm/leg workouts and stretching.  Mentally, I am still reading daily, I took a nap one day and over all I am taking better care of myself.  I need to write more but I am thinking about it everyday, which is a step in the right direction.  This week, I need to do a better job drinking water and eating healthy but all in all I am looking at last week as a positive.

So not my fault…

Ok, it probably is but I’ve had so many problems with posting my blog entries lately. I have them written but installing the pictures has been difficult.  Last Sunday, I tried to post something about the eclipse and everything went wonky and I just said forget it.  I pretty much left it alone although I have been writing the more recent blog posts.

Thanks for bearing with me, all two of you…I will post more soon.

Keeping busy…

My baby kittens are having surgery today.  They aren’t really babies anymore, they are nearly six months old but still they were so tiny when we got them.

It’s time for their spay and neuter surgeries and I am a bit nervous.

I shouldn’t be nervous, I worked at three different veterinary hospitals over the span of seven years.  I know the protocol and procedures, I scheduled appointments and calmed down pet owners on a weekly if not daily basis.  Still when it’s my pet, I am just as crazy as every other pet owner.

Boo and I dropped them off this morning at 6:30.  The staff was really nice and I felt very comfortable with the kittens being well taken care of.  They do their surgeries early in the day and we were told that we should expect to pick them up between noon and 3 pm.

We spent the morning working on school and I concentrated on straightening up my craft room.  The school room and the craft room are one and the same, so it was easy to keep Boo on track with school while I worked on the craft mess.

The office called around ten in the morning, both Pippa and Scotty were out of surgery and were doing fine.  We were told we could pick them up at noon.

They were still a little groggy when we picked them up.  We left them in their crates for several hours and then kept them in the bedroom overnight.  Scotty recovered pretty quickly, which is to be expected since his surgery was less intrusive.  Poor little Pippa was not a happy camper, it took her a bit longer to be back to normal.  She was still hissing at Scotty Wednesday morning but relaxed a bit by the middle of the day.

**Update**

I am happy to report that both babies are doing well and are back to full activity.  They still love us, I am so relieved.

Scotty and Pippa catnapping on Friday.

Making the best of it…

It was another long Friday.   Boo and I left the house around eleven  to spend the day with Martha and then transport T.W. from dialysis back to the care center at around 9:00 PM.  We drove to Martha’s house and then all three of us went to visit T.W. at the care center.   I am going to say that the visit was interesting and leave it at that.  We left there and went to lunch, we had a great time.  Martha and I even dissolved into a fit of giggles a couple of times.  Boo thought we were nuts but honestly, we really needed a good laugh, with all of the worrisome stuff going on lately.

After lunch we did some shopping, Boo and I ran into the mall while Martha rested in the car and did some reading on her Kindle.  We checked out the newly remodeled Disney Store it is very cool.  Our vacation savings plan was started, I finally put some money on a gift card.  My plan is to put at least $25 on the gift card every paycheck.  I figure by October I will have at least $400.  Is that right?  Uhmmm, that’s eight months (if I include October)  multiplied by $50, so yeah, holy crap.  That’s $400!   Fantastic, I wish I would have started it in January.  Maybe I can add some extra money each payday to make up for the $100.  Hmmm, I will have to think about it and post an update.

Meanwhile back at the mall…Boo and I stopped at Build A Bear so we could get a cute dress for her new Lucky plaid bear.   Molly looks quite spiffy in her shamrock dress.  I will have to add a pic.  We finished up shopping at Michael’s.  I found a great St. Patrick’s Day bow to add to the wreath that I hang in the kitchen.   The St. Patrick’s Day decorations were 50% off so I also grabbed some sparkly green fake carnations and some stickers.  There were some great looking Gerbera Daisies that were 40% off so  I grabbed a few of those too.  I got a few more things, most of it was on sale and I used a gift card, so it was a good trip all around.

Here is the wreath with the new bow.  I got the shamrock garland that is wrapped around the wreath a few years ago out of a clearance bin.  I think it cost me a quarter, look at me, such a big spender.  I love the new bow, the shamrocks are perfect, the white ribbon lightens up the wreath and bow itself really adds some dimension to it all.  All in all I am really happy with it all.  The lighting isn’t the greatest, I will try to take a better picture tomorrow when there is more light.
